Groups within Groups using dynamic queries - is this possible?

Hi,

We've got a hierarchy of devices within Solarwinds that allows us to drill down based on location and then device.  Currently it looks like this:

  Australia (Country Group)

    --- NSW (State Group)

         --- AUNSW01 (Site Group)

              --- AUNSW01SW01 (Object/node)

              --- AUNSW01SW02 (Object/node)

In other word, a group called Australia, with a group under that for the sites in the state of NSW, and a group within the NSW group for AUNSW01 (the first site in NSW).

We have a dynamic query which pulls the node objects into the right site group, and this works well.

However what we would like to also do is have dynamic queries further up in the tree, for example a dynamic query for NSW which pulls in all other groups that state with AUNSW*, and another group called MOBILE for our 3G/4G connected sites, and another group which contains all other sub-groups which are in a status of "unmanaged".  At the moment we have to manually go in and pull the objects in manually which seems rather sub-optimal and is error prone.

There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to do this, because the dynamic query options don't seem to let me pull in other groups.  Is there any other way to do this?

There is also no obvious way to move or rename a group within the hierarchy, ie if a mobile site becomes fixed we have to recreate the whole lot all over again.

Any assistance would be appreciated....

Thanks,

Reuben
