I've just completed the installation of SAM 6.1 RC2, having gone through the RC1 upgrade last Thursday. Everything has gone smoothly in both cases.
My interest in this release was mainly around the new Task Scheduler monitoring, and I'm very pleased with the feature thus far. It was only after installing the new version in production that I had a large group of servers with scheduled jobs defined to monitor and generate alerts. I'm finding that at least one of the features I thought was missing before is there in the alerting...
- Jobs not starting when they are supposed to, as defined by their schedule -- this one is caught in at least the case of a job not starting because of a previous execution still running.
- I may be able to catch and alert on a newly created job by using the DateOfCreation field in the Alert Manager. I'll have to try it.
- I still don't think I can view the Task Scheduler summary for all servers on one page, but I might try something silly like having multiple Views and loading them in iFrames in a separate HTML page...
