Yes I had assigned applications to the sensor. I have scrapped this sensor and decided to retry on another server. I think the problem was with the server not meeting the min requirements. It was running server 2008. All of my other deployments are on servers running either server 2008r2 or 2012r2. I haven't went back and double checked the min requirements but I suspect this is/was my problem.
